DFI Session 6 : Enabling Access -Sites

This DFI session focused on Enabling Access through the effective use of Google Sites. The session explored ways to make class sites more engaging, accessible, and easy for students to navigate. A key part of the learning was visiting other teachers’ class sites to see how they had organized their content, designed their pages, and created clear pathways for students. Looking at a range of examples provided valuable ideas and inspiration that can be adapted to suit the needs of my own learners.

During the session, I learned how to create and customize buttons to make navigation simple and user-friendly. Buttons provide students with clear visual cues and allow them to quickly access learning activities, resources, assignments, and important information without having to search through multiple pages. We also explored changing colors, backgrounds, and themes to create an attractive, consistent, and welcoming class site. Choosing colors carefully and using a clean layout helps improve readability and makes the site more engaging for students.

This learning will have a positive impact on my classroom. A well-designed Google Site will help students become more independent as they can easily find the resources they need, revisit learning at their own pace, and access activities both at school and at home.

Overall, this DFI session reinforced the importance of designing digital learning spaces that are simple, accessible, and engaging.
