Collaborate – Sites

Day 5 of the DFI journey focused on collaboration through the use of Google Sites, with a strong emphasis on how thoughtful design and multimodal content can transform the way we present and share learning.

A key takeaway from today was the concept of multimodality. Learning is no longer confined to blocks of text; instead, effective digital spaces combine images, videos, audio, embedded documents, and interactive elements. Google Sites makes it easy to bring all of these modes together in one place. This not only enhances engagement but also caters to diverse learners who process information in different ways. For example, a student might better understand a concept through a video explanation, while another benefits from written instructions or visual diagrams.

Designing a Google Site is not just about placing content on a page—it requires intentional planning. We explored how layout, navigation, and visual hierarchy impact the user experience. Clean, simple designs with clear headings and logical page structures help users find information quickly. Consistency across pages is also important, ensuring that fonts, colors, and layouts support rather than distract from the content.

Overall, today reinforced that collaboration is not just about working together, but about creating meaningful, accessible, and engaging digital environments. Google Sites provides a platform where multimodal learning and collaborative design come together to support deeper learning experiences.
